Mentally, I'm Here: Marc Jacobs's Paris Apartment in 2002
A new series highlighting interiors and locations I love.
A recent filing from what was my personal heyday of Marc Jacobs—the pre-buff era MJ, when he had recently signed onto Louis Vuitton and was creating peak Marc by Marc Jacobs collections and wore clear-frame glasses. Please enjoy his gem of a Parisian apartment back in 2002.
And while you’re at it, here’s a viewing recommendation that I watched on repeat in 9th grade: Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, a documentary by Loic Prigent. It covers him co-designing both his namesake line and his LV collections for the S/S 2007 season. Marc was really the first designer I ever paid attention to, thanks to this Winona Ryder Vogue issue of her wearing a blue bow Marc number (probably for her first comeback) that I remember seeing at the checkout in Target with my mom and asking to purchase. This was, of course, before the iconic Sienna Miller September 2007 issue.
Enjoy. xx

Marc will always be my North Star. His ads shot by Juergen Teller taught me what playful coolness is.
