“I have done nothing all summer but wait for myself to be myself again.” — Georgia O'Keeffe
I can’t help but identify with the above quote—summer is not a season I wholly dislike, but it’s certainly not my favorite. It makes me feel less ~in my flow~ creatively. I feel betwixt and between; not super inspired these days. Working toward exciting things, but still, there is a feeling of pause in the air, of slowness, all while time feels like it is passing so quickly… having the idea in my head of being too busy, a to-do list that doesn’t end, feeling burned out, even. The push and pull of always having to optimize my time while realizing I do have the time to focus on myself. Are you feeling the same sort of phenomenon this summer?
As always, though, I am trying to keep up with this little project, and I wanted to share some things I saved recently as a practice to come back to myself each week and log what I find interesting that I want to share with you. Also, Mad For It has almost 300 subscribers, and I am eternally grateful to all of you.
Unsurprisingly, what comes after summer is on my mind, and you can probably tell from these saves ;).
Jane Birkin Clip from a 1997 Interview
Saved because: Well, Jane is the ultimate queen of cool. I feel myself thinking about her every time I get dressed. In fact, her personal style in her later years was really my favorite. It can be seen quite well in Jane B Par Agnes V. A watch I highly recommend which I will be watching again soon :).
An Archival Yoko Ono Image on the Cover of M le Mag.
Saved because: Yoko in those Porsche sunglasses are *chef’s kiss.* Her outfit is too. I love the combination of androgyny and austerity in this photograph. I got to see her retrospective at Tate Modern in London in March, and it did not disappoint.
Sugar Candies (Source)
Saved because: Pastry always fascinates me and these delicate molded sugar pieces are no exception!
David Bowie in Japan by Masayoshi Sukita (Source)
Saved because: when you think of Bowie’s style, you probably immediately think of Ziggy Stardust and orange hair. Honestly, my favorite Bowie eras are Thin White Duke onwards. Idea Books has for sale a rare photo book of Bowie in Japan in the ‘80s capturing him around the city in fabulously cool looks that were the perfect encapsulation of his personal style at the time.
Vintage Ricard Pastis Bottle (Source)
Saved because: My husband loves drinking Pastis, a French liqueur that has a licorice taste. Sophie Buhai posted a gorgeous book with designs by the duo Garouste & Bonetti, and I was excited to happen upon this vintage Pastis bottle from the ‘90s. One of my favorite motifs is what I’d call a “Mediterranean sun,” and it was delightful to find it here.
Romy Schneider, 1960s (Source)
Saved because: When don’t I have a yearning to wear fall ‘fits in the streets of Paris?
Jugend Magazine (Source)
Saved because: This is from a German arts magazine called Jugend that stopped publishing in 1940. I love this sculpture that looks classical while also incorporating elements of art, nouveau and deco.
See you next time!

Love this 🤍
